My name is Clare. I enjoy theology, kids, chocolate, sunsets, Twinings English Breakfast Tea, chick flicks, and cats. I love hymns, country music, and really any song with a catchy tune and good lyrics. You can usually find me hibernating with a blanket and something good to watch/read, daydreaming, cleaning (I’m a touch OCD), or going for a walk while podcast listening. I enjoy playing piano, and having deep talks with friends. I also love to laugh, either with friends or with a good comedy. I am enjoying being an auntie to my two adorable nieces.
I am passionate about seeing people walk in freedom from sin and struggles of the past, and to live in the peace and joy of their identity in Christ. I believe that the gospel* is not just something we learn once, but that applies to every part of our lives.
People who have inspired me: Elisabeth Elliot, Joni Eareckson Tada, Corrie Ten Boom, Kelly Needham.
Currently I work with traumatized children at a women’s domestic violence shelter and I am looking forward to pursuing biblical counselling training with CCEF shortly.
*The gospel: God is holy and not like us. We are born into sin and only desire to live our own way and seek our own glory (Rom 3:23). Because of this, we are separated from Him. However, in His mercy, God sent His only Son to die for us, to save those who turn from their sins (repent), and believe in His death and resurrection (Rom 10:9). We are then forgiven of our sins, and seen as righteous before God (2 Cor 5:21). When we are saved, God gives us a new heart, and puts His Holy Spirit in us, so we then desire to obey Him and put sin to death (John 7:38-39, Rom 8:1-2). God has prepared good works for us to do, not to earn our salvation, but to show our love and gratitude to Him, and to bring Him glory on earth (Ephesians 2:8-9).
